Tony's Music Box Halloween Guitar Smash-a-thon

The Halloween Guitar Smash-a-thon held by our local independent music store, Tony's Music Box.

Now you know why we patronize this place.

Lessons learned: Acoustic guitars smash very satisfyingly. Hard-bodies, on the other hand, tend to be weapons of amp destruction.

Unless you're smashing them against a brick wall. Then they smash real good.

I dunno . . . that makes me kind of sad. Unless the guitars are somehow completely unplayable, smashing them up seems a bit like tearing up books to me. Like if you don't want them, give 'em to someone who could really appreciate them. Nothing against Tony's Music Box, I never liked it when Pete Townsend did it either.

On the other hand, one of the cooler art projects I witnessed was a piano being smashed with sledge hammers and then set on fire, so I guess I'm just a big fat hypocrite.

Do you have video???

I assume all the guitars involved were far past playable conditon... Tony's respects instruments. But I will check in w/Husband and report.

I was in college. I don't think video existed yet--at least not the kind everyone carried around everywhere.
